New Items at J Magnolia Designs!

FINALLY! I had the time to sit down and actually work today! Every time I think I'm going to have the day to do nothing but work, I end up having to do a million other things. I suppose those are the woes of working from home... I need to simply dedicate an 8 hour work day, much as I would have been forced to do if I was still working for someone else.  Work from home discipline is a tough thing to learn!

Anyway, enough with my babbling here are three new items JUST added to my store :)

Natural Aventurine Wire Wrapped Ring, Nickel Free $15

Liquid Blue Jewel and Copper Bib Necklace $55

Sparkling Natural Quartz Gemstone .930 Silver Hoop Earrings $25

New Handmade Jewelry!

I hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful holiday season thus far! I know I'll be glad when we can start over on a new slate in 2012! I've been a bit back logged, so to speak, and haven't made many updates to my shop  in a while. Had a few custom orders for Christmas, that took priority over stock items! These earrings are the last things I made as "stock" items for my store, before xmas, and I know I need to get back into the swing of things!

Red Swarovski Crystal Earrings $6.50
Keep in mind that I also love custom orders! If you have an idea in mind, or simply want a custom piece of jewelry made for someone,  don't hesitate to contact me.   I can get my hands on almost any materials/gemstones that you might want (if you want a piece that will require materials that cost a significant amount, I may ask for a deposit).

I'm thinking about possibly hosting another giveaway in the near-ish future, if I can network myself with other blogs.  Barely anyone sees this, and it's as though I'm blogging to myself! It hardly seems feasible to have a giveaway with no readers XD

Anyway! I'm off to try and get some work done! I've been working on a wire wrapped ruby ring, and kind of lost my creative motivation half way through it after all the custom orders I did in a short amount of time.

I wish anyone who stumbles upon this blog, the happiest of New Year's!

Looking for a Quick Way to find deals on electronics?

If you're looking for a big ticket electronics item, I'll bet you probably try to find the best deal before purchasing. I know I do. If you missed all the Black Friday Sales (which, I didn't think were THAT great compared to other years), don't fret! There are still great deals out there, and a REALLY great place to start looking and comparing is: TECHBARGAINS.COM

I have found numerous items on this site for 50% or more off retail. If you don't mind the occasional link to an "open box" item, that is. I found a brand new Dell Inspiron for $370 (loaded options), because the box had a "dent" in the corner.  Not to mention TECHBARGAINS.COM filters all the best deals on the internet, and has that handy compare option as well.

After finding that perfect item,  make sure you do a quick search online for coupons for the retailer you found it on! I've saved anywhere from and additional 10%- 40% off the sale price, just by going to online coupon code sites like retailmenot.com for instance.

If anyone knows how I can become affiliated with other blog circles, I'd love to be able to offer and participate in giveaways for people who want to follow and read my blog! I'm thinking about doing a "deal a day", promotion where if you are looking for an item, but want to find it "cheap", I'll scour the internet FOR YOU, and post the deal!  So, if you have a request, post a comment!

It's been a while!

It's been a LONG time since I've posted, and I apologise! I've been very, very busy. I have a fundraiser coming up Saturday, to benefit a friend who has cancer, and I've been working my butt off trying to get jewelry made so I can sell, sell, sell! If you haven't done so, yet, take a look at my etsy store, I've added TONS of new items since I've last posted ")

I've also been doing a lot of those online rewards programs, and if you haven't yet, you all MUST join swagbucks. I know, I'm late on that bandwagon, but I'm gaining swagbucks left and right just by using their search toolbar! I won 26 swag bucks JUST by being a goofball and searching the word "Why"! Ha!  So, get on this train, and join up! It's WORTH IT. It's a bit late for making money for the holidays, but you can start saving points to redeem for cash to repay yourself for what you SPENT this holiday season. It's easy, it's free, and if you are a stay at home mom, or are working from home, it's easy to gain loads of points by doing easy things you can do while doing your daily routine! Click the banner to get started on earning points!

Then there's this site called "superpoints" it's a bit harder to earn without inviting friends, but just 5 friend referrals, with all of you actually visiting the site daily, will make the process easier!  Anyway, as swagbucks is free, so is the superpoints network. They have the "super lucky button" and as long as you fill out your profile entirely, you get thirty chances a day to win super points (more if you invite friends).  As with swagbucks, you can exchange points for cash or merchandise, so get on here and invite everyone you know! The more you participate the faster rewards add up! (Some people are doing $1500 a month!).  You do need invite tokens to join, so here are five I have available!

Potato and Lentil Soup Recipe

I haven't posted here in a long time (so BUSY! Crafting like a mad woman, and helping Rags with his website, and fan relations and event coordination).

It's not the traditional "creamy" potato soup, but it's something I cooked up a week or so ago because I was at loss for what to make as a side for a light lunch.   I don't use amounts, because I don't measure when I cook. I always tell people," make it to taste" XD  When I make this soup, I usually use about 4 med./large potatoes and half a bag of lentils (8oz or so--adjust this as you feel necessary, I like lentils a little too much so I use more than most people would).

Potato & Lentil soup--

Sauteé 1/2 of an onion and 3(more or less depending on how much you want to taste it) cloves of garlic in about 1tsp of olive oil in a large sauce pan until onions are soft. Add water* to fill pot about two thirds of the way full , and add these spices and herbs:

Broth**:Indian tumeric, ginger, paprika, cumin, cayenne, cinnamon, cloves, all spice, nutmeg, cardamom, parsley, salt, pepper.

Add lentils and cook until soft.

In another pot cook potatoes until tender, drain and add potatoes to lentils. Let soup simmer for about 20min, and then serve :)

*Add water as needed(and as desired , if you would like a more "brothy" soup), as lentils will soak up a lot of it. Adjust herbs and spices to taste if soup becomes "bland" from added water.

**all spices and herbs to taste.

Camp Papillon Fund-raiser

http://jgantert.avonrepresentative.com/online_event/view.php?rep_spnsr_evnt_id=151884Just a reminder to everyone--

Please visit my AVON e-store and shop my EVENT page to help out a local no-kill animal rescue in my area! Camp Papillon is currently trying to raise funds to build a sanctuary for animals, so that they are able to take care of more future pets, so they don't end up in a high kill shelter. The sanctuary will temporarily house the adoptable pets until they find their forever home, as well as be a place for the unadoptable, old and sick animals to spend the rest of their days in comfort.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 in total sales right now we have a small $115. Please help, buy your favourite AVON products, try something new, or buy a gift for a friend! If we get 2,000 people to buy $10 worth of merchandise we'd have have quadrupled our goal.

Webspace.

Well, here I am on my newly purchased section of the intrawebs. This will be the base for my jewelry design company, as well as my modeling page (and maybe I'll combine the two and be a massive enterprise of awesome).

I'm still going to be using etsy as my storefront, because, well I'm lazy, and it's the best thing out there. Maybe if my sales pick up, I'll work on getting a google store front, that way I can manage everything myself.

So, here I am. Hopefully, I did all my DNS redirects correctly or no one will ever see this. XD

Thursday, August 11, 2011

Hello, empty space.

I know, I haven't posted in a few days! With all the giveaways I had going on, my AVON fundraiser for Camp Papillon animal rescue , and trying to get up a shell of a site for my fiance Rags Morales, I haven't had a single moment to type a blog--or for that matter, make jewelry for my etsy store. I've got all these ideas, and new materials and haven't had the time for any of them!

I'm hoping once I get the website for Rags finished, I can start my own for my craft business. I do wish, however, I had done it the other way around, because Rags site is a "work in progress", as I haven't built an actual website for three years, and unfortunately, three years is a lot of time for change in the world of web design. I've been up until 4AM most nights scripting, editing graphics, and doing general SEO stuff to get the site going and to make people aware of it.

As far as my jewelry giveaways, both are over! The winner of the "Back to School Giveaway" on  Green-Mama-Jama's blog was Amy McCarty. So, congrats Amy!
Your bracelet is on the way! :)

The ADGA winner has yet to be revealed to me, but the giveaway filled up so fast, they ended it a month early XD I suppose, that's a good sign!

Alright, that's all I have for you guys right now. I need to get back to work on all the projects I have going! I'll keep you all updated on my etsy store as soon as I have new merchandise:)

Giveaways, for real this time!

There are two giveaways being hosted for me currently, and I want to let everyone in on them!

First, is one being hosted through Green MaM-a JaM-a's blog! It is a "back to school" event, and I have offered up a child's size "adult" bracelet.

It is strung on super durable elastic beading cord (NOT the stuff in the kiddie jewelry making packages), and features acrylic crackle beads, and swarovski crystals. It'll make your little girl feel like well, a little princess! :) Go check out green-mama-jama's blog
to enter to win my giveaway and the  many others she has going on! As well as read reviews on green baby products :)

The other giveaway is being hosted on .alldaygiveaways.com, simply go to the site, sign up for free, and enter to win my Amethyst and Black Freshwater Pearl bracelet and earring set!

It's all free and the site is REALLY easy to use. Enter to win not only one of my pieces, but loads of other things as well!

CAMP PAPILLON fundraising event!

THE EVENT WILL NOT SHOW UP ON THE EVENT PAGE UNTIL AUGUST 1.  USE CODE:  PAPILLON at  checkout to ensure your sale goes to the right place!

CAMP PAPILLON  is a NO-KILL rescue, with wonderful volunteers fostering and taking care of animals other shelters won't take, so they will be placed in happy homes :)

They are currently trying to raise funds to build an animal sanctuary for un-adoptable, sick and old animals, so they can live the rest of their lives in a peaceful, happy setting. They need to raise a whopping, $1,000,000 to make their sanctuary a reality, and I'm trying to raise as much money as possible to donate to them.

The event will start MONDAY AUGUST 1, 2011 and run through OCT.1,2011.  AVON gives me 50% of the sale profits, to distribute how I would like, and I am giving CAMP PAPILLON 40% of the proceeds. SO! If we reach my goal of $5000 in sales, that equals $2500, which gives the Rescue $1,500. The more we sell, the more I can donate to this wonderful rescue!

If you want more information about the organization, or want to donate directly please visit their website to find out how!

Starting AUGUST 1,2011, please visit my AVON estore via the event page to stock up on your favourite AVON products, and help out a wonderful animal rescue!  All purchases via the estore, will be DIRECT SHIPPED to your home, so no need to live in the area! Please help out, this money will go to saving local rescue animals from a short life in a kill shelter. Let's make a difference, together!www.camppapillon.org

CAMP PAPILLON ONLINE AVON EVENT!

FUNd-raising.

Okay, so as well as being a (super) small business "owner", I am also an independent sales representative for AVON. Yeah, yeah, I know! It was a desperate attempt to bring in some extra cash when I was waiting for unemployment to go through. WELL, I figure AVON is a good way to do some fundraising. It's easy and they do almost everything for you.

Why am I  blogging about this? Simply because I want to focus my AVON business on fundraising.  Here's how it works!

1.Contact me to tell me about a NON-PROFIT that you think could use some extra funding. Be it a place you volunteer at, or a place that you know is struggling and is trying to do good work for the community.

2. We discuss what fundraising items you want to use. AVON does not do the entire catalog for fundraising options. They have certain collections set aside for these events. Including cosmetics (cruelty free),nail care and fragrance, Naturals Bath Products, and Skin So soft.

3. Once we decide, I'll set up an "online event" for the non-profit, with a code that all customers wanting to participate can enter at checkout.

4. AVON gives me 50% of the profits for a fundraising event. I can decide how much of that goes to the organizations. I'm asking for only 10% of the profits(since I will be having to do all the work as far as collecting and distributing), and the other 40% will go to the NON-PROFIT.

SO! If you're interested in fundraising, please let me know! I'll be more than happy to set something up for your organization.

I'm especially interested in fundraising for NO KILL ANIMAL SHELTERS. If you know of one needing help, please get in touch with me!

Since I'm a advocate for the Pit Bull breed, if you have a non-profit no-kill rescue for these dogs(or other bully breeds), and the organization is doing good for this breed--by educating, and representing them in a good light--I will donate the entire 50% of profits to your organization! :)

Contact me, if you are interested in AVON fundraising, together we'll make a difference for the organization of your choice :)

Independence

I'm almost into my third month of unemployment, and it looks like things are going well for independence from UC benefits. I'm gradually gaining more business on my etsy store, it's slow, and I certainly wouldn't be able to afford to live off my earnings right now (a measly $50 a month income), but hopefully, in the next few months I can up  my earnings and bring myself to my projected $800 a month before UC runs out.

I just had a friend stop in to pick up her AVON order from me, and I've completely lost my train of thought XD. I suppose I'll end it here, tomorrow I'll organise my thoughts, as I want to talk about some fund-raising I want to sponsor, in regards to my AVON business. :)

Giveaway News :)

I am currently in the process of setting up a few giveaways, one coming up with theGreeN MaM-a JaM-a Blog.  She'll be posting up some pieces I made specifically for the giveaway, in the near future (still have to iron out details and things). I made some pieces for little girls, tween/teen, and for mom (because she needs some pampering, too!).

I'm very excited about the giveaway, and I can't wait for them to start:) I've also been in contact with   All Day Giveaways, to host a giveaway there, as well. Sign up for that site, it's awesome in general. Basically, you sign up for free, and then use your points to cast ballots to win things. The only catch is having to get at least ONE e-mail from each sponsor you enter to win merchandise from (which really, isn't bad when you think about it). Everything from iPad giveaways, to dvds and kitchen appliances!

Also, if you haven't been to my etsy store yet, check it out! I posted about ten new items last night, and as soon as I'm done with this blog entry, I'm going to be making more :) 10% off is only going on for a few more days, so don't miss out! Use coupon code JULY10 at check out.

I will eventually get around to customizing this blog, so it looks a bit fancier, but right now this will have to do.

This is just a "hello"

Exactly as the title suggests, this is a "hello" blog. I have nothing to say today, it's hot, we don't have A/C and for the last three days I've felt like I'm melting like the wicked witch of the west (sans the water).

I might have more to say when I don't feel as though I'm sticking to every surface I sit my butt on.  A nudist lifestyle seems more and more appealing every day.
